Mahmood Akbari is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at  Sharif University of Technology.

He received his B.Sc. from  Faculty of Engineering  at the University of Tehran and his M.Sc. from Sharif University of Technology in 1988 and 1993 respectively, and his Ph.D. degree from TUHH (Technical University of  Hamburg-Harburg), Hamburg-Germany in 2000 all in Electrical Engineering.

He has experiences in Semiconductor Laser Devices and his current interest lies in Wave Propagation specially in Periodic Structures, Meta Materials, Photonic Crystals, Photonic Structures and Networks.
